As first time visitors to Sydney, my wife and I took the light rail to Chinatown to have dinner at Chinatown Sizzling House. I am a Chinese Food snob. From New York, I have eaten at Chinese restaurants in Chinatowns in NY, San Francisco, Vancouver, Chicago, Manila, Melbourne and elsewhere. Chinatown Sizzling House did not disappoint. Chinatown Sizzling House has very few interior tables. It shares, with multiple other restaurants, many outdoor tables that lend a comfortable and festive atmosphere to your dining experience. We chose Braised Eggplant with Green Beans, Sizzling Mongolian Lamb (placed in a sizzling plate at our table), Fried Rice Noodles With Beef (called Beef Chow Fun in other cities) and Vegetable Fried Rice. All were very well presented and tasty. No liquor is served but you may bring your own (and may even purchase Soju and other liquor down the street). Chinatown Sizzling House provides a menu with pictures of every offered dish. Very helpful for the uninformed. I recommend Chinatown Sizzling House for delicious Chinese food.

We ordered sizzling Mongolian lamb, special fried rice, and honey chicken. The lamb was tender and came out on a very hot plate which made it more appetizing. Fried rice had generous toppings and wasn’t dry. It does get busy but food arrived fairly quick.

Efficient staff (owner?), dumplings were good, not the best I have had. Salt and pepper chicken was quite delicious. Bucket of rice for $10 was a surprise and probably value for money. Ate outside and quite a nice ambience. Sizzling dish was impressive, but perhaps more a gimmick. Maybe not worth the money.

Had a fantastic experience at Sizzling House in Sydney Chinatown — definitely deserves five stars. The live sizzling plates are the real highlight. Instead of bringing out pre-made dishes, the staff actually place the food onto the hot plate right in front of you. Watching everything hit the plate and start sizzling is super fun and adds a whole extra layer to the dining experience. The aroma is amazing, and the flavours are spot on — rich, well-seasoned, and not overly greasy. Portions are generous too, so you leave feeling very satisfied. Service was great as well. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and happy to explain the menu or make recommendations. Even when it gets busy, everything runs smoothly and you never feel rushed. The atmosphere fits Chinatown perfectly — lively, casual, and full of energy. It’s a great spot for a relaxed meal with friends, family, or even a quick solo visit. BTW, don’t miss the lunch specials — they’re insanely good value. Beef noodle soup with steamed dumplings for just $9.80 is honestly a steal in Sydney and perfect for a weekday lunch. Overall, this place nails it with flavour, experience, and value for money. I’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and satisfying sizzling meal in Chinatown.

Excellent food. Great service. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend the meat spring rolls, fried chicken, pork fried rice, and sweet & sour pork. The food is so good. I have already eaten here twice. It is a very welcoming environment. They work hard and do a good job of serving others.

I could not sing better praises for this establishment! Some of the best food, vibes and staff in Sydney!!! The staff was super welcoming and lovely, treated us with much kindness and were very friendly, and diligent at their jobs! The food here was AMAZING, and good value for money! The portion size’s were great!! We liked sitting outside a lot, it was a unique experience in Sydney! Not many establishments here have outdoor seating on the walkway like this in the heart of the city, it felt like we were in Europe I would definitely suggest checking it out for yourself!! :))
